Tremendous poster, probably the only one that still exists, advertising a Yiddish production of Clifford Odets' play Awake and Sing. The poster reads "Daly's Theatre, 63rd st. East of Broadway, Eves. Wed. through Sunday, Sun. Matinees, 25c to $1.10," and also contains a line in Hebrew. The play was considered Odets' masterpiece and was completed in 1935. At the top of the poster, the mark of the Federal Theatre can be found, which was a New Deal program to help fund the arts. There is chipping to the extreme ends and a few wrinkles, but it is an otherwise amazing example. The play's gravitas is beautifully captured in the illustration found center right.
