Four letters originally obtained by Barry Halper from Max Carey Jr.  1) Extensive two-page Dutch Carter letter praising Jim Mulvey and talking about prospects for the new season.  Hilarious content includes mention of Shanty Hogan, "I can't see Hogan (a boozer and hellraiser and coming FAT BOY)".  Carter also mentions his inside knowledge that a controlling interest (55%) of the Philadelphia club may be up for sale.  2-4) Three typed letters from Jim Mulvey including: 2-pager regarding waiver prices; 2-pager regarding trade negotiations interestingly quoting some of the ideas that Dutch Carter mentions in his handwritten letter to Carey a few days earlier (included in this lot) and; a four-page letter regarding possible trades including that of Dazzy Vance.
