Beautifully preserved 1908 financial ledger from the AL Champion Detroit Tigers written in the hand of their owner, Frank Navin. This important relic came from when the Tigers moved from Tiger Stadium and was discarded with many other papers and artifacts, but was saved by a legendary Tigers collector who has had it for decades. The fascinating contents include detailed financial records, with pages devoted to "Capital Stock," "Dividends," "Team Equipment," and "Rent." Almost half of the book (69/140 pages) is written on, with the 1908 World Series appearing on one of the last pages. Navin's signature shows up 11 times in the ledger. The shrewd owner had a penchant for being frugal, so it is no surprise to see that he kept such immaculate and comprehensive records of the Tigers' accounts. There are also pages for each player, including "Tyrus Cobb," Hugh Jennings, Mullin, Donovan, Wahoo Sam Crawford, Schaefer and more. Three years later, the Tigers moved to the newly erected Navin Field, which, bringing things full circle, would eventually become Tiger Stadium.
