Tris Speaker, nicknamed "The Grey Eagle," was a lifetime .344 hitter who played 22 seasons mainly with the Red Sox and Indians. Speaker was an inducted into to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937, one of the first dozen players to be honored in Cooperstown. He is still the all-time Major League leader in doubles with 792. One wonders how many doubles he hit with this bat... Manuf: H&B. Model Number: Pre-Model. Labeling Period: 1916-1922. Length: 35.5 in. Weight: 37.4 oz. Condition: Cracked at the handle, slight checking on the back barrel and a small chip in the knob. Several ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right, left and back barrel. An area on the left barrel has been planed to accept factory side-writing, which is no longer visible. Several cleat impressions can be seen on the right, front and back barrel. There is a light coat of vintage gripping substance on the handle. The bat displays evidence of heavy use and possesses identifiable player use characteristics. Accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA grading the bat a GU 8.5.
