Fantastic hand drawn sketch done by Roger Maris outlining his record breaking 61st home run. The primitive sketch comes on a sheet of blank white paper on which Maris drew a baseball diamond with a dotted line pointing to where the homer was hit, with "#61" at its end terminus in right field. It has been signed by Maris and personalized to a man named Paul, reading "To Paul, Best Always, Roger Maris." The sketch has been framed to 13x19" with a matted photo of Maris hitting home run #61. In the photo, Maris is seen admiring his feat, and the relief on his face is palpable. The year was not easy on the introverted slugger, who was constantly haunted by the specter of the great Babe Ruth, whose name was an albatross to Maris throughout. The prevailing sentiment was that Maris' name should not be uttered in the same breath as Ruth, and the animosity only grew as Maris needed the newly expanded regular season to surpass Ruth's home run record, which was accomplished in only 154 games. Through it all Maris persevered, and on the last day of the season he socked his 61st home run of the year. Comes certified by PSA.
