Exceptional journal kept by George Marko, head of the Lionel Train Exhibition at the 1959 American National Exhibtion at Sokolniki Park in Moscow, location of the famous kitchen debates between Vice President Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev.  The journal notes the "complete disorder" of the exhibition site upon arrival.  Most interesting is his description of the arrival of Nixon and Krushchev mentioning that "Nixon's speech was really exceptional." Marko notes that on the following day (the official opening), "The Russian People came in and completely over-ran the everything & everybody."  

Perhaps due to the fallout from the kitchen debate, Marko notes on Monday, July 27, "The questions were really loaded today.  Russian student was really a planted agitater (sic)."  The next day he receives the same pointed questions and notes, "All Russian questions are discussions based on Pravda or Isvestia".

Later entries into the journal include mention of a filmed interview with Dave Garroway (Today Show) and a meeting with Ed Sullivan in the lobby of the hotel on his day off.

The 43 pages of entries touches many other interesting topics including his meeting with Russians not-so-happy about the country, American's who ended up living in Russian (one that was not allowed to return home) and other topics.
