Offered is an amazing number of cards from the ultra-scarce 1966 Topps USA Test issue hockey set. In that year Topps released a limited quantity TEST ISSUE which closely mirrored their regular Topps release. The differences in appearance were slight, as the TEST ISSUE had a lighter wood grained surface, as well as a reverse that only revealed a text in English as opposed to English and French.
This TEST ISSUE was only distributed in the United States, and is believed the issue was mainly confined to areas of the south as well as California, neither of which were viable hockey markets before NHL expansion.
This lot of 52 cards comprises almost 80% of the full 66 card set. While their are none of the "major stars" such as Gordie Howe, Jean Beliveau, Bobby Hull or the Bobby Orr rookie card, there are ELEVEN dozen Hall of Famers, plus much of the work to getting you on your way to possibly completing this miraculous set has already been done.
Includes: #2 Worsley, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 Imlach, 14, 15, 16 Stanley, 17 Armstrong, 18 Howell, 19 Hadfield, 20 Pronovost, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30 Keon, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38, 41, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 52 Ullman, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59 Pilote, 60, 61, 62 Mikita, 63 Delvecchio, 64, 65 and 66 McKenzie.
All these cards are "pack fresh" beauties in appearance, but all have a slight-to-moderate "ding" in the lower right hand corner, effectively reducing the technical grade but which could never reduce the overall eye appealing quality of these very rare hockey relics.
