Commemorating one of the darkest moments in baseball history, this lot offers five World Series ticket stubs from 1919, the infamous "Black Sox" scandal series. Included are five tickets covering four games out of the eight played; Games 1, 2, 5 and 6 (2). The closest thing to a complete series set ever offered publicly, these very tickets were passed down for generations through the family from the person who originally attended the games, with all of the games in Cincinnati having the same section and row. In that series, several of the heavily-favored but disgruntled Chicago White Sox agreed to throw the series in exchange for compensation from gamblers. Eight players were banned from the game for life by Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis in an episode immortalized in print and screen in the nearly century since. Game 1 and 2 tickets have creasing to corners, Game 7 has light tear at top edge. Ticket marked for Comiskey Game 3 corresponds with series Game 5, and Redland Field Game 3 corresponds with series Game 6 of the best-of-9 series. All have been slabbed as PSA authentic and an updated photo will be shown online.
