Fabulous wood clock mantle owned and used by F. Ambrose Clark (1880-1964). Clark was a prolific equestrian of the early 20th century, whose most famous horse, Kellsboro Jack, he sold to his wife for just one pound prior to the 1933 Grand National. Kellsboro Jack went on to win the event in record time, becoming just the third American-owned horse to win the famed steeplechase race. The mantle is monogrammed "FAC" right in middle. It was gifted by Clark to his maid shortly before passing and measures 16x7x18". The ornate carvings give it quite the regal look - certainly befitting of a well-to-do gentleman of the time.
