One of the ultimate pop culture symbols, this is a piece that belongs in the Smithsonian next to Fonzie's leather jacket, the original Howdy Doody Puppet and Archie Bunker's chair. Joe Namath's fur coat stirs images of New York sports glory of the late sixties with Cleon Jones catching the last out of the 1969 Miracle Series and Walt Frazier dressed to the nines riding the NYC subway while he and a hobbling Willis Reed lead the Knickerbockers to immortality. But Joe Namath sticks in our mind more so than any other. Predicting a David and Goliath Super Bowl win and owning it, while on the side we had the Brothers Three "scandal," getting "creamed" by Farrah Fawcett in those shaving cream commercials, shaving his legs for pantyhose, and being at the epicenter of the greatest city in the world dressed in his resplendent fur coat. This trademark piece was worn by Mr. Namath in the famous 2016 Iron Bowl broadcast of the Auburn-Alabama game. In a tribute to retiring Verne Lundquist, a gleeful Broadway Joe donned the coat and paid tribute, even kissing the broadcasting legend while Lundquist quipped, "My career is complete!" Magnificent coat signed inside, "Stay Warm, Joe Namath, Roll Tide!" Huge signature measures 7x7". Finely made by Henig Furs, jacket alone retails for $8,000. Museum worthy.
