He's the most famous name in surfing -- an Olympic champion swimmer, Hollywood actor and Hawaiian folk hero. In his day, he was the most famous Hawaiian on earth, yet very few relics of his life have surfaced in the collecting world. This is the best we've ever seen, a silver-plated cup with a spectacular image of Duke riding the waves below half-inch tall letters spelling his name. Opposing side is engraved, "Mid-Pacific Carnival, Feb. 16-21 1914, Honolulu, HI." The occasional dent, bend and tarnish has given the piece the look of an ancient relic, which it is, of course. It still looks fantastic though, and any serious surfer will want to drink from it as if it is the Holy Grail.
