Picking up the mantle from David Little, linebacker Greg Lloyd became the emotional leader of the Steelers defense for much of the 1990's. Lloyd was picked alongside fellow Steelers great, Rod Woodson, in the 1987 NFL Draft, and the two became the most recognizable players on the defense for the ensuing decade. Lloyd was named to the Pro Bowl five times, and was first-team All-Pro three times. This jersey was game worn by Lloyd in the 1996 season opener against Jacksonville and shows appropriate use. Unfortunately Lloyd would be sidelined for the remainder of the season with injury, but was still able to make a substantial contribution by personally coaching his replacements. This would appear to be the only true game worn jersey of Lloyd's for that season. The black, home jersey has a "96" year tag and a size 48 Pro Line tag on the tail. There are paint transfers, stains, and scuffs on the numbers, as well as two team repairs and custom sewn sleeves. It has been photo-matched to the '96 season opener against the Jaguars. In the photo (Getty #233763), there is a Starter patch on the sleeve, while on this jersey there is currently a Nike Swoosh logo, however there is also an outline of a Starter logo. Lloyd would go on to be selected to the Steelers All-Time Team in 2007. All jerseys come directly from the Steelers archive and come with an LOA from the Steelers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Steelers Archives items will be donated to the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research.
