Neal Broten was a member of the 1980 U.S. Men's Olympic Hockey team that stunned the world at Lake Placid by defeating the Soviet Union in what is known as the "Miracle on Ice." Broten then parlayed his Olympic success into a long and fruitful NHL career, playing primarily in his home state of Minnesota. This jersey was worn by Broten during the 1992-93 season with the Minnesota North Stars and is attributed to his last game of the season, which happened to be the Stars last game in Minnesota before moving to Dallas. There is "92-93-4" tagging inside the lower tail, indicating that it was the fourth set of the year, as well as a size 50 tag in the neck and a Stanley Cup 100th Anniversary patch on the right breast. The jersey has a fight strap initialed "MB" by equipment manager Mark Baribeau, and "LG," denoting that it was the last game. It shows nice use with slash marks, paint transfers, and a lot of loose threads. Sources from veteran collector Michael Wexler, who also has Wayne Gretzky's last Oilers jersey.
