This tremendous oversized, team-signed photo of the 1963 AL Champion New York Yankees is near the pinnacle of Yankee pride. Several of the most iconic players to don pinstripes can be seen here, including Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Elston Howard, Ralph Houk, Tony Kubek, Hector Lopez, Jim Hegan, Frank Crosetti, Johnny Sain, Al Downing, Joe Pepitone, Ralph Terry and more. There is a total of 36 signatures done in gorgeous, blue steel-tip fountain pen averaging 8/10. The '63 Yanks were led by the M&M Boys, Mantle and Maris, who two years earlier had provided fans with one of the most memorable seasons in Yankee history as the two had engaged in a nearly season-long home run struggle in pursuit of Ruth's record. Though Mantle was forced to bow out of the race due to a severe hip infection, Maris forged on, and on the last day of the season he hit home run #61 to break the record, which was subsequently disputed by Ruth apologists. The icing on the cake in '61 came when the Yanks won their 19th World Series. They won again in '62 and made it back in '63, but were dispatched by the Sandy Koufax led Los Angeles Dodgers, falling just short of a three-peat. Handwritten in the top left of this photo is "1963 team," believed to be in the hand of Hector Lopez, since the photo sources directly from his personal collection. There is a mild crease at the top left and a tear on the right edge and bottom. The photo measures 11.5x19" and comes with a PSA LOA. Graded "8" signatures by PSA.
