Jack Nicklaus is unquestionably one of the greatest golfers of all time. The Golden Bear turned pro in 1961 and quickly made his mark on the tour, out-dueling the legendary Arnold Palmer in an epic showdown to win the 1962 U.S. Open. The victory would prove to be his first of 18 career major championships, a record that many thought would be threatened by Tiger Woods but still stands to this day. Nicklaus also sits third on the list of all-time tournament victories behind only Sam Snead and Woods, despite playing a limited schedule that primarily focused on the majors. This set of irons (2-9) is comprised of eight clubs in all, and was used by Nicklaus at a time that is unfortunately unknown to us. All have the matching serial number "S08130B" and have "VIP" and "J.N" stamped on the backside of the head. They were made by MacGregor, and all show use on the face with ball marks. The original black grips with gold trim remain, which were a favorite of Nicklaus. Additionally, they come with an LOA from Nicklaus himself. The Golden Bear was truly a once in a lifetime golfer, with six wins in the Masters, four in the U.S. Open, three in the British Open and five in the PGA Championship. These irons are the perfect way to celebrate an unprecedented career.
