A crown jewel from the Craig Patrick Collection, this very rare trophy was given to Patrick for his involvement with the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins. The President's Trophy is awarded to the team that finishes with the most points during the NHL regular season, and only two were presented that year: one to Patrick and one to the team's president. As general manager of the team, Patrick was the architect of the Penguins' tremendous success during the early 1990s. The team won back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1991 and 1992, but despite a strong showing in the regular season that earned them this trophy, Pittsburgh failed to three-peat in '93, instead falling to the New York Islanders in an epic Game 7 of the Patrick Division finals. The trophy is in NM condition, with a high quality dish that sits freely upon three hockey sticks at the top of the award. A plaque on a black, composite base is engraved "National Hockey League President's Trophy 1992-93 Craig Patrick Executive Vice President General Manager." Its austere appearance belies its importance and prevalence, as this is the first one of these trophies that we have handled. It stands a regal 13" tall with a 6" base.
