The epitome of a tortured artist, Brian Wilson is undoubtedly one of the most important figures of music in the 20th century. Wilson burst onto the American music scene in the early 1960s with The Beach Boys, setting the framework for what would be known as the "California Sound." The Beach Boys enjoyed tremendous success during the period, producing what is widely considered to be one of the best albums of all time in Pet Sounds, but Wilson's deteriorating mental state forced him to slowly retreat from the limelight. These handwritten lyrics by Wilson were for the song "Life is For the Living" which was never actually released by the group. Life is For the Living was intended to be the lead track on the album Adult/Child, a follow-up to 1977's Love You, but the album was rejected by Reprise Records. Eventually, the song was recorded and released by the Easy Goings in 1992. The lyrics appear all on one page in green pen, with a unique handwriting that erratically alternates between upper and lower-case letters. It comes with an LOA from Perry Cox, one of the leading rock experts in the world.
