Just a few months after the tragedies of September 11, Richard Reid attempted unsuccessfully to detonate explosives hidden in his shoes while on a Paris-to-Miami flight. Dubbed by the media as the "Shoebomber," Reid was convicted and is currently serving three life sentences without chance for parole. These jailhouse letters were written by Reid and given to a fellow cellmate. Eventually, they were used by the FBI as documentation evidence for the trial which resulted in his conviction.
