Leo Durocher had said on many occasions that Pete Reiser was the best baseball player he ever saw, and Durocher actually coached Willie Mays in his prime! If Reiser didn't run into the center field wall a few times tracking down long fly balls (he was also beaned a few times), you might have seen Reiser's Hall of Fame plaque during your last trip to Cooperstown. Reiser's 1941 campaign saw the 22-year old lead the National League in runs, doubles, triples, batting average, slugging and OPS, and Pete was MVP runner up. This rookie card is one of the few Pete Reiser cards available, and exhibits all the qualities of a MINT card. As with the other 1948 Bowman's offered in this catalog, this card has exceptional eye appeal. Interestingly, this has far fewer submissions than most cards in this set, with a mere six (6) examples grading at MINT 9, with not a single example grading higher. PSA MINT 9 condition.
