Precious original art from the genius of Charles M. Schultz, whose legacy will live forever. From 1967, when revolution was changing the world during the "Summer of Love," and up to this time good ole Chuck had pretty much stayed the same. However, around that time he sought to remain relevant and introduced Jose Peterson, who was half-Latin, half-Swedish, making him the first Latin character in comics history. Wonderful artistic balance with two varying panels of Charlie Brown and lesbian Peppermint Patty (who calls him “Chuck”) watching and commenting on slugger Peterson's hitting. Jose only appeared for a short time, hence artwork of him is quite rare. According to the strip he batted .640 in New Mexico and a heightened .850 in North Dakota. Framed, the cartoon itself is the standard 27x6.5”, folded in the center when it was mailed, with pinholes at the corners. Inscribed at the top in blue ink, “To Al With Friendship "CHARLIE Schultz," a very rare signature variant. We have not seen another piece inscribed this way. They must have been dear old friends. Charlie Brown baseball dailies are among the most desired of all along with those depicting the Red Baron or Woodstock.
