Exceptional quality, heavy chalk on marble bust (weighs 34 pounds overall) that once stood in the vaunted trophy rooms of pioneer football & sports collector Dwight "Duke" Hott. Standing 19" tall, this larger than life size head is of Guy Chamberlin, the early champion who was player-coach on four incredible NFL title teams: 1922 and 1923 Canton Bulldogs, 1924 Cleveland Bulldogs, and 1926 Frankford Yellow Jackets. Signed and dated on the verso by the artist "Marion Rubin '64." Interestingly, it is dated (1964) the year before Chamberlin's 1965 Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction. One of the first inductees into this American institution based in the Big Bang Theory of professional football creation in Canton, Ohio, its 1964 completion, was pretty much perfect timing to be done in time for Guy's 1965 Induction. This important work of art was created to honor him in some way, perhaps another Hall of Fame or local Lincoln, Nebraska, museum or institution. This was simply too expensive a piece of art to be made for any old reason especially two years after his College Football HOF and one year his Pro Football Hall of Fame entrance. Originally came from pioneer football & sports collector Duke Hott.
