A fitting keepsake from the team once known as the "Big, Bad Bruins," this penalty box door came right out of the Boston Garden when the contents were sold. All-original and quite heavy, the door measures 31" high, 45" across, and 7.5" thick, and was actually used during the Bruins' last game at the Garden on September 26, 1995, an exhibition contest against their Original Six rivals the Montreal Canadiens. Used for years on the rink, it is painted yellow on the inside with heavy metal hinges, handle, and latches intact and the remnants of a Starter advertisement still affixed to the ice-facing side. The thick wooden door is stamped "BRUINS" on top to identify it as the Bruins penalty box door and it shows the battle scars of many hard-fought games at the arena that was known for its tight confines and intimidating atmosphere toward opposing players. Opened in 1926, Boston Garden officially closed in 1995 and was demolished in 1998.
