Originating from the early stages of the Big Red Machine era, this near-perfect road flannel was game-worn by Pete Rose in the 1971 season. Not only does it show beautiful use, but it bears a 9.5 MEARS rating - all that prevented this from being a 10 was a cracked button which has since been replaced with a vintage, matching Wilson button. But for that one button, it is all-original and is vintage signed (PSA LOA) on the front by Rose. As a possible bonus, it is also noted in the MEARS letter that this may have been worn during the 1970 World Series as the Reds switched to the single layer of red tackle twill lettering for that 1970 series and teams have been known to order new jerseys for the World Series, then use them for the following season. "Rose" is sewn on a swatch in the collar, "CINCINNATI" is across the front in red lettering with "14" below, on the back in the same red lettering is "ROSE" with "14" below, and Wilson size 42 tag on front tail with "42" sewn in below. While the Reds failed to make the playoffs in the 1971 campaign, the man known as Charlie Hustle was an integral part of the squad that qualified for the post-season in four of the next five seasons, winning a pair of World Series titles.
