A perfect example, this terrific early 1960s New York Yankees cap was donned by none other than Mickey Mantle. The dark blue cap has the classic interlocking NY embroidered in white the navy blue crown. The leather band inside has Tim McAulliffe tag and faint 7 1/4 stamped on the band with KM Pro stamp also present. Under the brim, in vintage black marker is the Mick’s number "7." It shows terrific use with sweat stains and marks on the brims from Mickey's fingers repeatedly taking it off and putting it back on. There’s also a break in the center of the hard lining inside the brim, which could very well be from Mickey folding the cap and putting it in his back pocket. Comes with full MEARS letter and additional letter stating that this cap was given by Pete Sheehy (the legendary and generous NY Yankees Clubhouse Man who was there since 1927) to a Mr. Phillip Melkonian. A two-time MVP, the Commerce Comet is still widely considered to be the best switch-hitter in baseball history. The Mick won seven World Series in pinstripes, and this special offering is a part of that heritage.
