One of the true rarities in the hobby, a major player's flannel jersey with a letter of authenticity from that player. This spectacular road gray Braves top from 1962 is a "Tomahawk" style, the last year that the Braves used this style on a flannel. Zipper front with "Braves" and the aforementioned tomahawk logo in thick felt on the front, with "21" below. In the same red-on-black felt on the back is a large "21," the collar has a swatch with "Spahn Set 1-1962" sewn in and at bottom of the front tail is Wilson size 42 tag. It is signed by Warren Spahn on the front in 8/10 black Sharpie, and one of the most striking elements is the intricate "Screaming Indian" embroidered Braves logo patch on the left sleeve. It comes with a letter handwritten by Spahn, dated 1970, which states that, "I hope that you get much enjoyment out of my 1962 Milwaukee Braves road uniform. It was the last year of the tomahawk. I know it will add to your great collection. Best Wishes, Warren Spahn." This all-original road jersey is a top notch example, graded A9.5 by MEARS, with only one half point deducted for some minor separation of the felt applications of the number on the back. A testament to his greatness, the Warren Spahn Award is presented each year to the best left-handed hurler in the majors.
