This spectacular 1945 World Champion Detroit Tigers uniform was worn in their defeat of the Chicago Cubs, which extended their drought. Road jersey with the special WWII Memorial patch sewn onto the sleeve and first worn by pitcher Joe Orrell, it was handed over to Jim "Abba Dabba" Tobin when he replaced him on the roster. Believe it or not, Tobin pitched TWO no-hitters with the Boston Braves. Tobin pitched for the Tigers in the 1945 World Series victory, and likely wore this during the Series because of the limited number of jerseys they were issued. Tobin pitched three innings in the Opening Game in Detroit. Gorgeous all-original #14 on verso, this Wilson size 44 sports an all-important "45" for the year embroidered in red on back tail. Pants are MacGregor, size 36, "Set 1 1950" with number "17" which were later worn by Don Kolloway. All in beautiful condition, they came from the family of a huge Detroit Tigers fan who is now deceased.
