An extremely rare piece featuring the name and likeness of a one-of-a-kind ballplayer, this spectacular piece is the only one of its kind known to exist: a stately, century-old Ty Cobb Sporting Goods loving cup trophy that measures 10" tall and features figural bats and a baseball at the base. The engraving on the front showcases the Hall of Famer's facsimile signature, beneath which reads: "TROPHY PRESENTED BY W.B. JARVIS CO. DETROIT - GRAND RAPIDS P.S.A.L. GRAMMAR SCHOOL BASE BALL WON BY 1916 UNION 1917 PALMER 1918 (blank)." The verso is even more impressive as it presents a relief portrait of Ty Cobb himself with his autograph below and "Brand" beneath that. The bottom silver plate with numbered markings on bottom is scalloped, with the stamping: HFVANBERGHSPCO. There are a couple of bends in the silver cup which can be easily restored, otherwise it is in EX condition.
