This stately image of Philadelphia A's owner Ben Shibe is dated 5-25-1935, thirteen years after his death in 1922. Measuring 12.5x15" in original frame, it is a great pose in colored pencil, interestingly framed in Detroit. A baseball pioneer dating back to the 1970s, not only did Shibe own the A's after the turn of the century, but he was instrumental in bringing pro baseball back to Philadelphia as well as the building of Shibe Park - later known as Connie Mack Stadium - in 1909.
