The 1939 season was a magnificent one for Cincinnati Reds hurlers Bucky Walters and Paul Derringer, who combined to win an astounding 52 of their team's 97 victories. Both are immortalized in this special pair of baseballs. The Walters ball may well be the finest specimen available, as his signature graces the sweet spot of an Official National League (Frick) ball, that also bears a "Complemnets of WCAU" stamp, apparently as part of a promotion. The ball displays some spotting but is off-white and has a gorgeous signature with near perfect stampings. Derringer's is signed on a panel of an Official National League (Frick) ball, dated September 25, 1939, and this gem is in EX-MT condition. Since that 1939 season, no NL teammates have combined for as many wins in a single season, a record that may never again be approached, let alone equaled.
