This grizzled veteran pitched twenty-two seasons in the Majors, sharing the mound with Red Sox rookie Ruth for the duration of his stay in Boston, then following the Babe to New York before a four-year stay in Washington. It was there that he wore this wonderful cap (note that the accompanying uniform is listed elsewhere in this auction). Condition is terrific, and display value is top-notch. Loose stitching along one seam is the only defect, otherwise it's about as nice as it was when Sad Sam shared the dugout with the Big Train.
