This personally owned and worn black necktie belonged to 22nd and 24th President of the United States, Grover Cleveland. Gifted by his son, Francis Grover Cleveland, to collector Jim Schendel in February of 1964, this lot comes with a typed, signed letter from Cleveland's son Francis reading "as I read your letter, I see that you collect neckties. Hence, I include this one, which belonged to my father, Grover Cleveland." During his tenure, which included popular vote victories in 1884, '88, and '92, Cleveland was known for wearing black neck ties and one could imagine what he was doing while wearing this piece of history. He remains the only president to have been elected in non-consecutive terms.
