Huge 20x13" point-of-sale decals of this type went right on Crown Gasoline pumps in the Baltimore area. These were produced in 1969 after the Baltimore Colts NFL Championship when they suffered their legendary predicted loss to Joe Namath and the NY Jets in Super Bowl III. Colts legend John Mackey was a spokesperson for Baltimore’s Crown Gasoline and the decal bears a full-color likeness of Mackey, with the proclamation of “Proved in Action – 100+ Gasoline.” Decal is in Excellent and unused condition, still adhered to its original backing. From the Gus LeDonne collection, legendary football and sports collector who passed away too soon in 2013. A top of the line buyer, Gus bought the best of the best in the early days of our hobby.
