Important piece of hockey history, this was the Miracle before the MIRACLE. Authentic jersey worn by U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer, forward Paul Johnson, who is perhaps the most important player on this legendary team. Paul was an American ice hockey forward. He scored the pivotal go-ahead goal in the semifinal game against Canada that propelled them into the Gold Medal game in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. THE VERY GOLD MEDAL-WINNING GAME HE WORE THIS EXACT JERSEY!The most underrated series in hockey history - to this day eclipsed by the 1980 team. These young bucks sans Herb Brooks (who was famously cut), beat the mighty Soviets, Team Canada, and finally Czechoslovakia with Paul Johnson in this sole white jersey in Squaw Valley, California on February 28, 1960. This is one of only two Jerseys from the 1960 USA Olympic Hockey Team ever to be publicly offered. Tagging reads, "Gerry Cosby" with tiny "46" size tag is affixed to the right. Team U.S.A. Olympic shield patch on the left front shoulder with "USA" on the front in tackle twill drop shadow font. Letters and numbers are sewn with Cosby's traditional tight-stitched zigzag. Original tie-down string is still attached. Single color blue tackle twill #15's on both sleeves and #15 stitched in drop shadow font tackle twill on the back. The jersey has some moth holes as seen, but does not detract from its overall beauty and historic splendor. Two LOA's included plus our own upon request. The 1st “Miracle On Ice.”
