One of the greatest travesties in sports history is the tearing down of Ebbets Field and the building of apartments in it's place, a constant reminder that commerce is the root of evil Apartments were built on the former Ebbets Field site, and were named the Ebbets Field Apartments upon their opening in 1962. This attractive wall plaque with hanger on back was likely strategically placed in the "model unit" or the offices to use the former site as a marketing ploy. The superior quality ashtray is made of brass, with a ceramic center, felt backed and measures 9x9". The piece has a 20th century modernist design with an abstract interpretation of a ballplayer in mid-catch. The marks at the top can be polished right off, all that is needed is a bit of elbow grease, there are absolutely no flaws in the finish. The ceramic has minor crazing which is common, and overall condition is EX to EX+. First we have seen.
