This vintage Type I photo shows Frank Chance and Miller Huggins shaking hands before Opening Day of the 1923 baseball season. Both men were managers; Chance for Red Sox and Huggins for the Yankees, who won the game on April 18, 1923, as Babe Ruth hit his first homer of the season. The 6.5x8.5" black & white shot is stamped "April 21, 1923" on back, and typed caption indicates that 70,000 fans witnessed that contest at what is referred to as the "New" Yankee Stadium. While the photo shows minor creasing, it remains in VG-EX condition.
