After his playing days ended in 1878, Albert "A.G." Spalding focused on his sporting goods company, and became one of the pioneers of the industry that remains a giant to this day. This vintage 8.5x7" black and white photo depicts thousands of wooden "slugs" used to make bats outside of the Spalding factory. The caption on the verso (typed on paper, which has become detached from the photo) refers to "...supplying the willow to Babe Ruth, Long George Kelly and all the other professional ball players of the nation." The image is in VG condition with some writing and Baseball Magazine hologram on the back, and is dated 6-27-21, per the caption.
