This Olympic gold ring belonged to Dave Silvestri, who played in the Olympics and then in MLB from 1992 thru 1999, most notably for the New York Yankees. The gold ring was presented to him for his achievement on Team USA at the Olympics in Seoul 1988. The ring is gold with diamonds which form USA fitted in the center, incised 10K "From Mullington LGB USBF." On one side it reads "XXIV Olympiad Seoul with USA 5 Japan 3" which are the final scores of the game between Japan and the USA. On the other side, is embossed "Silvestri." Modern baseball was introduced as a demonstration event at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles as it was in 1988. In 1988, Team USA featured pitching sensation Jim Abbott and Dave Silvestri. Team USA got some revenge against Japan for the beating it suffered in the '84 games with a 5-3 win over the Japanese in the gold medal game. Comes with the original pawn ticket and is NRMT. We also have his Olympic gold medal and the silver medal from the Pan American Games elsewhere in this auction.
