This is really rare as only a handful of bookplates have ever been found outside of the Baseball Hall of Fame. What renders this piece even more unusual is that this illustrated plate is from the actual opening, when it opened its doors for the first time on June 12, 1939. This corresponds, as stated on the bookplate, to "Established by the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues in the centennial year and located in the National Baseball Museum Cooperstown New York." An extensively detailed etching of a baseball diamond, this piece came with the bound volumes of the baseball periodical "Sporting Life' and as far as we know is one of the few examples outside the confines of the Cooperstown Library. Includes the name of donee, measures 3.5x5.5" and condition is a clean EX+.
