This original lithograph by Chicago Bank is a circa late-1800s portrait of Peter Jackson, billed as the "Champion of Australia." Jackson is depicted in full fight pose, and this crisp prize is in EX-MT condition. Matted and framed in beautiful cherry-wood, the image is sharp and bold and the whole piece measures 23x34". Peter Jackson began fighting professionally in 1883; while a credible challenger, Champion John L. Sullivan refused to fight him, noting he would not fight a black man. Jackson fought a classic battle with future champion Gentleman Jim Corbett on May 21, 1891, in San Francisco which ended in a 61-round draw.
