Decades before they were resurrected in 1992, the original Ottawa Senators made their mark in the world of hockey. This is a rare, used souvenir postcard of the 1906 Ottawa Hockey Club in terrific striped period sweaters that includes the caption, "Champions of Canada, Holders of the Stanley Cup." The cup itself bears little resemblance to today's version, then consisting of only the top bowl, as pictured. The card is posted and there is a small crease, otherwise it is in EX-MT condition. As a historic footnote, the Stanley Cup was earned by challenge, and the Ottawa club successfully defended it twice before losing to the Montreal Wanderers.
