One of the most widely recognized image in rock n' roll, Rick Griffin's "Flying Eyeball." Known worldwide, this eyeball appears painted or printed on everything from tribal skulls in the Thailand jungles to t-shirts in the Chilean desert. It is the artist's own personal vision, done for a 1968 concert by Jimi Hendrix, John Marshall, & Albert King. Note that this is not just a trademark like the Stones' "Lips" or Led Zeppelin's "Obelisk". It is a much more profound idea reflecting Griffin's fear of the all-seeing eye of God, the father. Reminiscent of Walt Whitman's "transparent eyeball" in nature. Colors are bold and flamboyant on this second printing. Framed to 19x27" and NRMT.
