Long before video boards and even years before lighting was installed, old-fashioned manpower was needed to operate the giant scoreboard at Yankee Stadium. This vintage Type I black & white photograph measuring 7x9" shows the operator manipulating the pulleys used for the classic board. The verso bears two date stamps - one from September 25 and one from October 1, 1939, an Acme Newspictures credit stamp, and a clip of the caption from the newspaper in which the photo appeared. There are no visible creases or tears, a wonderful image from baseball days of yore.
