An unusual full-color mixed media cartoon by the most recognized master of sports cartooning, Willard Mullin, this is from the period considered by many the golden age of both American sports and American comic strips. Mullins have become quite rare and this appears to be a color presentation piece of his beloved bedraggled "Brooklyn Bum." He created the "Brooklyn Bum" character, a personification of the Dodgers baseball team and its long-suffering fan base, in 1937 after his cab driver one day asked "how did our bums do today?" Professional framed to 20x19.5", the insert drawing measures 7x6" and the condition is EX to EX+.
