This comes direct from the collection of Penny Chenery, world famous owner of perhaps the greatest racehorse in modern times. Secretariat is considered by many to be the greatest horse in modern history. Winner of the coveted Triple Crown in 1973, Secretariat's legacy lives on brighter than ever today. This white blanket with red trim and Marlboro Cup emblem was presented to Secretariat in the winner's circle after his historic 1973 Marlboro Cup victory. The inaugural event was created with Secretariat in mind, and he did not disappoint. He, along with his wonderful stablemate, Riva Ridge, finished 1-2 in a record time of 1:45 2/5. While easing through an extra furlong, Secretariat set a time of 1:57.80 for the mile and a quarter that was later tied by 4-year-old Spectacular Bid for the present-day record. This blanket, in excellent condition, was obtained from Sotheby's famous auction several years ago of Secretariat memorabilia consigned by the one and only Penny Chenery owner of Secretariat, Comes with the all-important original Certificate of Authenticity from Sotheby's.
