This is one of the early modern day silkscreens that were created in the era before Andy Warhol made it an art form unto itself in the 1960s. In full color, the sign measures 21.5x27" and is on heavy stock paper. The painting is an homage to the most famous horse that ran three times at this track, and horse and rider are intricately formed in great detail, through the silkscreen process, in Seabiscuit's colors red and white. Narragansett is a historically important track, as Seabiscuit rode his first race ever there, beat the track record, rode four days later and then in a troubling upset in 1937, Seabiscuit finished third in the Narragansett Special. This track was also relevant as it was a "High Society" meeting spot due to its proximity to Newport, Rhode Island, frequented by celebrities, including, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Cab Calloway, Jimmy Durante and others.
