Offered here are three printing plates from the illustrious career of Citation, the eighth Triple Crown winner, and one of three major North American Thoroughbreds to win at least 16 consecutive races in major stakes race competition. The first is a magnificent heavy, copper and wooden plate used to print the cover of August 1949 "Turf and Sport Digest" magazine after Citation's momentous win in 1948. Measures 9.25x12x1" and comes with a copy of the magazine itself. The other two are metal printing plates showing the photo finish of the 1950 San Juan Capistrano Handicap, one of four important races he lost to Noor. These two plates are approximately 3.5x16" (one is a little smaller), the first is a wide angle shot, the other has a four shot sequence as the two horses near the finish. Condition is NRMT on all three plates.
