With racial struggles still percolating some 60 years later, this civil rights two-for-one is a timeless treasure. First off is a rare framed flyer issued by the Negro Protective Association in the wake of Emmit Till's lynching announcing a "MASS MEETING" at the Jones Tabernacle on November 13, 1955, during which "Mothers and the womanhood of greater Cincinnati are crying FOR HELP! Their children's blood must not go the way of a 14 year old." Till was an African-American teenager who was killed by white men in Mississippi for allegedly flirting with a white woman. Only a few weeks after this rally, Rosa Parks famously refused to give up her seat on a bus in Alabama. The flyer measures roughly 5.5x8.5" and has light toning. Also included in the lot is a two-volume set of Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin" from the first printing in 1851, in FR-GD condition with spine separations and weathered covers.
