This classic pair of Everlast leather boxing gloves was used in the 1929 bout between Al "Battling Bronco of the Bronx" Singer and Gaston Charles, with Singer winning the fight on a second round knockout. A year later, in July 1930, Singer captured the World Lightweight Championship with a first round knockout and would lose the title just four months later. He is a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. The Everlast gloves show use and are in great condition, but are missing the laces. Right glove is signed on the inside "To SEYMOURE WITH BEST WISHES," and left glove is signed "AUG. 13, 1929 K. O. From AL SINGER." From the Helms Hall Sports Museum, the lot will come with letter of provenance/authenticity from Lelands.com.
