Just eight months prior to his runaway victory in the Kentucky Derby, Spend A Buck captured his first major race at the Arlington-Washington Futurity Stakes in Illinois, earning this stately trophy that stands 13.5" tall. The sterling silver trophy cup with handles is mounted on a hardwood base, on which reads: "ARLINGTON WASHINGTON FUTURITY ARLINGTON PARK SEPTEMBER 22, 1984 SPEND A BUCK OWNER HUNTER FARM (D. DIAZ)." The prize is accompanied by a large-sized photo of Spend A Buck in the winner's circle with this very trophy, along with owner Dennis Diaz. It comes directly from the Diaz collection and exhibits some tarnishing but is otherwise EX.
