This is a historic 1860 season pass related to the earliest pioneers of baseball. From the Union Cricket Club of Cincinnati, a pass to the field that became the home of the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The Lincoln Park Grounds, or Union Grounds as they were commonly referred to, was home to the Union Cricket Club from 1856 but ultimately was used for cricket and baseball. The grounds were not used for baseball until 1866 when Aaron Champion, president of the new Cincinnati Base Ball Club, approached the commissioner of cricket and the rest is history. The pass was issued to Jonathan Hattersley Esq., who according to genealogy records, was born August 1825 in Sheffield, Yorkshire West Riding, England and died in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1900. Pass is signed by T. Williamson Club Treasurer, measures 3.25x2.125" and condition is EX+.
